Hawk - This is actually a pretty good Game Theory analysis of the situation.

Krugman should really stick to economics and not national security policy..

That's appeal to authority - a logical fallacy that changes the subject from the issue being discussed to saying that the authority is not an expert in the field. We should maybe look at what he says rather than what he is?

Actually, Krugman should have ventured back to 1994

Game Theory looks at the current chips on the table, and the probable thoughts and strategies that the players are likely to form. It does not concern itself with mistakes/happenings/glories/defeats of the past.

What would Krugman have us do??

That's another logical fallacy (can't remember the name). Clearly, he only does an analysis on the current strategy, the validity of which is not affected at all by whether or not Krugman proposes another strategy.

What do you think about the analysis itself?
