SÃO PAULO, Brazil—Vésper intends to finalize buildout of its personal communications services (PCS) network during the first half of this year. According to Francisco De Assis Barbosa, institutional vice president of Vésper, the company already has begun the buildout process.
A work group was formed, consisting of 45 people from all the company areas, to set up the strategy and plan for the operator’s PCS business. Led by Brian Schicker, vice president of the consumer business unit, the work group has already begun the bidding process for acquiring CDMA equipment for PCS services to overlay on the company’s fixed wireless network.

“We have an ambitious goal, that is to have the networks in operation in the first half of this year in the three areas,” said De Assis. He explained that the current services rendered by Vésper will continue.

“In common, the two operations will just have the infrastructure,” he said.

Vésper’s PCS service will initially be deployed in cities with more than 500,000 habitants.
