"wicked" is in the mind of the beholder.
yes, cloning could be used by lesbians to have babies so it is a threat to the relgious right's order of things. But it probably wont be used much at all. even lesbians would probably not want carbon copies of themselves. I dont support it or condemn it. Admit it's a little creepy-sounding. And you wont find many who do support it. but it is going to happen no matter what we do and poses no clear and present danger to anyone right now. my father is a retired theologian who specialized in ethical debates like this one. he is not for cloning, but he is careful not to debunk science and outlaw cloning either. it just has to be watched carefully. we can't go back to the 19th century. science on the cloning front will advance. sounds like sci fi but it's here. and probably here to stay. not a partisan issue, just a sensationalization scare tactic used by some. the time to consider making it illegal would be when we find out what is really means and how it's done. maybe 20-30 years from now we should take a close look at it and its effects on our society. perhaps it has some beneficial effects as well. remember back when everyone was worried about test tube babies. well it can be done maybe but hasn't been. cloning will probably die as an issue too. I cant see many people wanting it.

One problem with cloning, from an article that I read, is genes are a repeating strand of DNA. As we age the strands lose DNA and shorten. Therefore a 30 year old woman who clones herself will give birth to a clone who has lost 30 years of her life at birth. That's x years -30 years of dying right off the bat.
