My friend told me last week that he had read in Consumer Reports that the best phone to get was a Motorola StarTac. Isn't that an analog phone? I get the feeling that CR does surveys that are kind of old to assess technology that is changing quickly. I never found their cell phone recommendations very useful.

Given their lag on cell phone surveys, I doubt if these assessments of providers even includes the Vision launch at Sprint or any kind of questions about additional services or internet link ups that would really show case Sprint.

Therefore the only thing that would show is the lack of "circuits busy" which is in fact giving a high rating for VZ and Sprint as it should.

PS Sent this from a Vision Internet Connection on my handset.

Lars-- Sprint is consistently worst in the category "dropped calls" is good information for consumers, but not what we're talking about.

Relative costs for ubiquitous voice/data coverage with each technology is the comparison in play, followed by price competition for the service.

By all reports, the CDMA carriers have the advantage, but don't yet seem able to use it.

I don't understand the GSM/1x costs in North America for the likes of Voicestream, but maybe Vodafone knows and is looking to expand and maybe beat up on DoCoMo.
