Excellent post, Steven. Thanks for taking the time to lay out your thoughts. I see someone has already posted a leaked version of what we plan to do. It calls for an 18 month occupation, trials of Senior Leaders, and out. Laughable, of course. I don't expect transparency in our long term plans there. Would be nice, but not realistic. We have a very vocal group here that does not want us there at all, and would use a totally open approach to our goals as a hammer to stop them. The "its all about oil" crowd. So I expect the Gov to hide what it is up to. Not nice in a perfect world, but to be expected. We are up against some very nasty people who hate us, and will continue to try to hurt us any time they get a chance. We are going to have to set on them in the ME.

Steven....Too bad you aren't teaching or better yet, writing a book...Your ideas are clear, not "in your face" nor argumentative, but rather, they are presented as factual as an unknown situation can be presented, and offer most of us an opportunity to blend in your thoughts with the other information we gather. Short option.... Long option... will it be either/or or a blend of both ??? What will be the price if we do one option, or do the other option, or do nothing. ???
