My statement was:

Several things about that.

First, I was speaking of societal belief, not individual belief.

Second, I accepted that it could be morality divorced from religious belief. Neo talks about the ethical part of his philosophy, which is parallel with morality. But it doesn't derive from pure reason. Values can't.

Third, the extent to which religion plays a part depends on how you defiine religion. It has many levels. Formal, organized, structured churches at one end. A recognition of some prime mover or some impelling force at the other. And everything in between.
