How about for starters, we insist that the baseline budget concept be abandoned? This budgetary gimmick is the basis for more spending hikes, shenanigans and half-truths than anything else combined.

Next, how about we stop howling everytime there actually is a tax cut? No matter "who" it favors, it is still a step in the right direction.

Then, how about we support tax reform? This was a hot topic a while back, but we seem to have forgotten. A flat tax that eliminates loopholes is a worthy goal, even with all the difficulties it would encounter, but I'm certain people of goodwill could negotiate a fair plan.

Finally, how about we close loopholes for offshore tax shelters? Has the gov't or anyone ever done a study of how much revenue is lost this way? (I saw a posting the other day about this, suggesting that we don't need new tax laws, but only need to collect from those who are hiding in various shelters and loopholes. I'll try to find and post it).

This is a list off the top of my head. Please bash or commend. <g>
