Yousef,
Lets face it, AMD doesn't need UMC because they can't sell the chips. Especially if they are low binning UMC crap.

They might need IBM to try and get yields and bins up on their SOI process they shouldn't even be using in the first place. Then again, they need the speed. Yeah I'd say they are in an extreme juggling act.
