Heard it was to appease the south conservatives. they do not expect the nomination to pass but Bush can say he didn't give in and still represents them.

It's bait. It won't go through. Charles Krauthammer got it right: The left will fire off most of it's ammunition in a pointless fight to keep Pickering out. Then the serious stuff will start, and they will have insufficient ammunition to fight them.

The attitude of the Bush administration is the OPPOSITE of the frustrating attitudes of the Doles and Lotts over the years. They are going to make the left STAND UP and waste it's influence on every issue, creating political leverage for Bush with the "bi-partisan" opportunists who remain with the Democratic party for no apparent reason.

It's an innovative strategy, which could wind up winning far more than the futile attempts at compromise with a bunch of Marxist/Leninist totalitarians.

In 2002, the Republicans pointed to the Daschle obstructionism, and won votes. If the Dems don't want to learn teh lesson, they can go on LOSING until they do.

THAT'S why Puff Daschle was almost in TEARS about dividends yesterday...

There's nothing at all wrong with Pickering, you see. He's DEFINITELY not a racist (Those opposing him, however, ARE).

There is a political COST to destroying this innocent man at the behest of radical anti-American fringe interests like PAW. Bush is making SURE that the costs will be efficiently charged...

How would I read PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH. There are times not to wave a red flag in the bull's face. That is civility. But there are times to stand up for what is right.

I don't know if this is a battle to fight now or wait for a more opportune time. I'm always up for a fight. LOL
I'd nominate Pickering again as the fight and focus would expose what about whom. I think the fight and in particular a Senate filibuster would expose how they think and what they think.

But re-nominated him as a favor to anyone seems out of character. I spoke of other things above.

There is the political War and this is a small battle.
