yes, I guess you are right.

However, if you look at their data (and how, they date when a recession starts), I think, one could argue that the beginning the of recession, be moved back to even as early as late 2000 (given the finial revised economic numbers). I think that their website actually mentions that there has been talk (but no action) that would place the start date of the recession sooner. I also believe that there where some complaints when the NBER first determined that the United States had entered a recession (at the time there was only one quarter of negative GDP growth - 2 quarters were revised to negative growth later). So it may be possible that the MBER is waiting a long time now, and being extra careful, before determining when the recession ended.
