The article also addressed international efforts to prevent the spread of disease... being sacrificed upon the altar of domestic politics (and that's rather larger than the issue of States making their own policies)... also the issue of false 'scientific' claims being put forward.

In a free country, I don't know why we're in the business of controlling social issues between adults at all. Do YOU know why we are in that business? If you throw out religion (because we are not a theocracy, and we do not mix religion and the state) why should we be in the business of regulating who gets married to whom? As long as adults love and care for each other, who cares who they are, and why should we care?
