People don't mind giving token acceptance to environmental issues, but when it comes to real sacrifices, they balk.

The reality is there is one thing that will get people out of SUVs, and that is gas at $3.00/gallon. Even at that, many will dig deeper and pay it. If a $1M/year doctor's wife wants to drive an SUV, the only thing that is going to get her out of it gas at $10.00/gallon. But she may well, as Babs does, make her "massive contributions" to environmental charities. Gets 'em off the hook <g>...

Truthfully, the outspoken amongst this group ought to put their money where they mouths are. Matthew Broadrick, for example, drives a hybrid. I'm guessing his politics are liberal, but by damned, he's backing up his actions with words.

It is no coincidence that these same people are those who find it acceptable to "pay for" nights in the Lincoln Bedroom.

That's a microcosm of mainstream environmentalism. People don't mind giving token acceptance to environmental issues, but when it comes to real sacrifices, they balk. And the rich hypocrites will continue to ride around in their limos or stretch SUVs, or even fly their private jets (cough cough John Travolta, cough cough), while giving lip service to whatever makes them feel like an "activist."

That's utter and complete bullshit, and you know it. Why don't you piss off and move to AZ so you can hang with the Young Reps. I'm sure you feel much more comfortable.
