I got some options. I lost a lot of paper profits in the crash and by being layed off before all were vested or had become profitable. Still, I can't deny that the portion that I managed to cash out was a nice windfall. I know people who made out better (One guy was a real idiot and got fired and therefore had to cash out everything about Oct 1999). Most got out worse than I. Losing the dreams and plans is harder than losing money. I know people who had options valued at $500,000 or more if they were vested at the millenium, people who spent their weekends looking for vacation ranches, and have now have seen the stocks plunge far below the excercise price and been layed off so there isn't even a possibility of a comeback. The really unlucky ones borrowed in anticipation of their profits.
