It wasn't just Davis or dems meddling that gave us Simon though. Remember the last loser the repubs put up against Davis (forgot his name)... Davis was super-winnable every time he has run. It is only the complete ineptitude of the republican party that puts us in this mess. If republicans run another far right, pro-life, anti-gay candidate with a hint of corporate corruption ties that person will lose regardless of how bad the dem selection is. My issue with the republicans in this state is they KNOW THIS- this has happened repeatedly in the last 10 years, California doesn't like social conservatives period and this will not change.

GOP conservatives picked Simon, rejected Riordan.
Blame the GOP. Riordan was the one whio could have beaten Davis but he was too "liberal" for the GOP.
