I've called, gone in 7 times, and each time they say it is corrected, and this last time I get a bill saying they've turned it over to a collection agency! My son & daughter-in-law are going through a similar thing with Cingular Wireless. In September they were charged $300+ for roaming charges on their plan they've had since February, which specified "Nationwide Free Roaming". They called once every month and were assured by extremely apologetic CCR's(Customer Service Rep's) it had been taken care of as they spoke on the phone. They looked at their account online and of course, it wasn't. Last week my daughter-in-law ended up in a screaming and crying match with some asshole "customer Service(???)" agent who finally escalated the call and she went through the same thing all over again and finally was escalated to the location manager. He did what should have been done by the first person 5 months earlier; he actually looked it up deep enough to find out what went wrong. It turns out that Cingular dropped their particular plan, but did not bother to tell anyone except some computer program that proceeded to start charging roaming charges every month, irrespective of what the CCR told it to do. No one tried to figure out what happened; the CCR just apologized again and re-entered the non-functioning correction, over and over each month and was assured by the computer it was handled correctly, and of course it hadn't been. My daughter-in-law spent over two hours on the phone with her blood pressure peaked out from the stress of dealing with incompetent people, programs(written by incompetent people), attitudes of incompetent(iss nah my yob mon). At least the last manager did some research, figured out what happened and corrected it (God, I hope so!) finally. Now all she has to do is try to make sure the "deadbeat" report is removed from their credit record. I had a similar thing happen to me with a major credit card company this past week. Seems I have a bankruptcy on my credit report from last August when my account was written off and closed. I found out when I called to find out why I couldn't set up the account online. I was told that my credit card account had been acquired from the original issuer as part of the original issuer's filing bankruptcy. I was told to just be patient and it would all be explained in a letter when the Bankruptcy Court allowed business to proceed. Well, last week I was told that the reason I hadn't heard anything since August was the account was written off and closed because of my bankruptcy last summer, and duly reported to the credit reporting agencies, Equifax, etc. This week's very competent CCR took about 3 minutes to find out that the bankruptcy had happened to another person whose SSN has one digit different than mine, and someone entered it wrong into the computer way back whenever. They never stopped taking my payments on my "closed" account but instead reported my phantom bankruptcy to everyone except me. Now I have to get my credit report revised, just in case I need some credit sometime in th future. And find out whose CC account my payments have been going to - S H E E S H !!!!! The dopey do-gooder liberal's self-esteem-first-learning-last idea of education has really improved the state of competency in our little corner of civilization, hasn't it? These are historic times, aren't they? We are not only seeing the decline and fall of the American Empire, we are causing it to happen by accepting incompetent behavior and abandoned ethics in ourselves and others as "normal" in every field of endeavor from child care to medicine to business to politics to the Justice System to... Egads! Chas
