You've used all those excuses, haven't you?

My favorite excuse story: A man is out on the town, drinking, chasing women, snorting a little of something that looks like it came off a sugar doughnut and generally raising hell. Finally, he looks at his watch and realizes it is morning and his wife will murder him if she finds out what he's been doing.

When he arrives home, he notices that the house is still quiet. He takes off his shoes, creeps into the bedroom, gets into his bed with his wife and nearly makes it when she turns and says, "how dare you come home at such an hour?"

"I'm not just coming home, honey. I've been here all night. I had to work late, but when I arrived, you were already asleep. So, it being a nice night, I decided not to take a chance that I'd wake you. So, I simply climbed into the hammock in the back yard and slept until the sun came up."

"I took down the hammock this afternoon."

"Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it."
