Steve, isn't the issue of the number of companies in the index irrelevant anyway? That is, the value of the goods and services produced does not depend on the number of companies needed to produce them, correct? Sure, some production may shift from Naz companies to NYSE companies, but given the differences in the general types of companies on the two exchanges, and the fact that the value of both has declined, I think that would have negligible effect.
