Do you have some links, data, whatever, Frank? As far as Palestinian criticisms of Arafat's governing style, there are quite a few (been reading Said lately) and it would not be surprising if those criticisms were widely held in the Palestinian population.

John, I have been reading the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR)
Polls. They use standard methodology and design and interviews are face to face, and as far as I can see are honest. I seem to remember TB saying they were OK.

I have not been systematic insofar as I not read every poll and appendices. However, here are some references with regard to Palestinians' views of the state of their democracy as opposed to that of the Israelis' and others'.

Notable also is the increasing Palestinian view over the past five years that the PA is corrupt and is likely to remain so.

Also, during the period 1996 to present about 55% of Palestinians have claimed they can not criticize the PA without fear.
