but that would be a perfect system

and I don't think anyone here would argue we do not have a perfect system or that having one is an impossibility, an ideal

it is in fact the ideal we strive for, hence this debate

I do think it is the best system in the world, the fairest

but no, it is not, nor will it be perfect

there are too many variables, we who execute it are too human - there will always be cracks and errors

the big question is how much or many will we tolerate?
