<We have situations to manage in Saudi Arabia, in Pakistan, in Iran, in many others. >

Please help me understand why "we" {US} HAVE to manage internal affairs (situations as you call it) of other countries.

It may accomplish something in Iraq, where its appropriateness is debatable.

It is kind of a "Boy Scout" situation Steven. We have to "Be Prepared." That is why we are going to need a long term "Boots on the Ground" Military presence in the ME. We need to make the leaders feel the presence of the "Gunboat over the Horizon," for quite a while. I am sure that the Hellfire kill we made from a Predator drone is well remembered in the ME, also.

Not a sort of apparatus I?d want in the hands of someone like Mr. Ashcroft.

It is kind of humorous for an old Atheist like me to be constantly defending these Evangelical Christians. When you take away the hype and rhetoric, what has Ashcroft done to merit the "Demonization" he has got? Draped a couple of nude statues in his Office Building? So he's a prude. Better that than what we had, IMO. You expect an Attorney General to be aggressive about getting bad guys. We have the courts to curb him.

I think we will end up with what we always get when we are war. Several huge organizations that spin their wheels 99% of the time to get good results the other 1% of the time. But we have a history of being better at it, once we get going, than anybody else.

Let's hope the guys running them can answer "Yes" to Napoleon's famous question for his Marshalls. "Are You Lucky?"
