P.S. - Did I post the story of my recent ticket on SI. I don't remember. If you did, it wasn't here. I'm not following any threads but this one right now so I can't speak for the rest. Interesting story? BTW, sorry about your ticket. I've managed to brush up against sixty, years, not MPH, that is, without ever getting one. Knock on wood.

I suppose you are right, but my dealings with the MVA in Maryland have mostly been unremarkable or downright pleasant. In the Annapolis area MVA, one went to the information desk, got some instructions and, if necessary, papers to fill out, then sat on a fairly comfortable bench until one's number was called, and one went to a main window to continue one's business. It was a large building, and they generally had at least half the windows staffed, more at rush times. Very expeditious, especially if one went when they were not likely to be at a peek of activity. I have generally had less trouble ordering forms from government, and getting help if need be, than in getting tech support from private companies, and I have had fewer screw ups from government offices than from my cable or phone companies. Going by my experience, government works pretty well, with no more glitches than one finds in the corporate world. Maybe that is why I cannot get behind libertarianism, although conservative........
