Cheney dumped his personal assistant, Mary Matalin, because Bush did not like her.

Where did that come from? Last time I heard Mary Matalin was beloved by the Bush's because she had done such a terrific job for them during and before the 92 election, because she was as loyal as one could be.

As far as my view of Cheney's role, it's always in flux. If I label something the conventional wisdom, it's to take myself across the room from it. At the moment, I'm simply glad Marshall nailed him. For my money, he's, by far, the most conservative member of the inner circle (and I do include Rumsfeld in that) and, easily, could get Bush into big trouble if Bush took all his advice. Rove's influence is most obvious when it obviously runs counter to Cheney's.

As for my dislike for Bush, geez, can't I get a word in edgewise for my policy disagreements. The list is so long to just itemize it would take more than one of those messages from SI when they inform you your post is too long and, oh by the way, you've lost all your work. Start over.

As for problems with his style, who doesn't, save a few buddies from Texas.

I'm told, by friends in Texas, that he has more than a little personal charm. They voted against him. There. And nationally.
