Imprison the innocent, or as is the topic of this thread, slaughter them, and what chance do any of us have to leave a civilised society to our children

I rescind that statement. If we just imprison everyone we would pretty much eliminate all crime. I think you may have just stumbled across the answer to all of our problem.
