Of course, I cannot comment on your circumstance, which sounds ghastly. I can say that I have rarely gotten tickets; that I have never gotten a ticket I didn't deserve, with the exception of a parking ticket at a meter that ran fast; that I have been spared a ticket in a couple of instances, because the cop took to me; and that I have had cops perform occasional good turns, for example, once changing a tire for me in a left turn lane, because he could get it done faster. Additionally, my brother with cerebral palsy has lots of cop pals, both on the DC force and at the Capitol. His Capitol Police buddies helped to move him and my mom, even though I offered to pay for the move, because my mother couldn't see paying all that money for professionals. Also, one of my brothers was a cop for awhile. So again, I know there are bad cops, or that even good cops can make mistakes, but my personal dealings have mostly been positive, and I like the police, by and large.......

That's too bad. At least you beat the reckless driving charge. Somehow, I have trouble imagining you driving recklessly. And somehow, I have trouble imagining a cop not having anything better to do these days than to ticket such a thing. I drive on the beltway enough to see lots of ticket opportunities going unticketed.

I was done in by a car this week, too. I came home from Tucson to find the ABS idiot light flashing on my dash. The dealer says that the computer says that there's a leak/loss of pressure--gotta replace the ABS. It's incomprehensible to me that an ABS would need replacement at 15K miles. I hadn't expected to have a major repair on my car while it still had its original battery, for heaven's sake. No explanation. All I got was "the computer says..." Cost me even more than your run-in with the cop.

I guess these things just happen. Hopefully, they don't happen too often.
