There used to be an old bridge that went over the Mississippi at Nelson into Wabasha that was something else. Very rickety and very tall. On the MN side you made a 90 to the left and 40' semi trailers would run the tractor scraping the rail on the outside and the trailer would be dragging the rail on the left. Really something. An over the road tractor with trailer longer the 40' couldn't even make the turn and had to go downstream 30 miles to Winona. They have finally replaced that with a new bridge but it is still very tall in the center. I guess they figure they might bring and aircraft carrier up the Miss some day or something.
