Ted Re...You explanation is a bit on the simplistic side. By your standards, the Latinos as a group should not be experiencing the level of racism that they do experience because they as a culture espouse the ideals of education, hard work, being on time, and yet they suffer racism almost to the same degree as blacks in this country. <<

Simplistic??? My explanation certainly isn't as simplistic as your "Lets blame racism " for everything you can't explain. The simple truth is that we have seen a huge inflow of Mexicans into the US in the last 20 yrs. Far more than the labor markets demand, and most have little property, don't speak English fluently, or have an education. And many send their excess money home to Mexico to help their families. Yes, you can bet that because the Mexicans generally value education, discipline, hard work etc, that they as a group will overcome the blacks, and surpass them in earning power once several things happen. The Mexicans need to learn the language and then learn trades other than labor. Most are concentrated in the southern states, CA and TX, and have over flooded the capacity of the system to supply jobs. We need a slowing down of immigration from Mexico to lower jobless rates. That is how it is in America in a capitalistic society, the people in demand make the most, and the ones with overcapacity, starve. The trick is to go where the demand is.

Racism is a cruel and seriously damaging psychological tool of which the full extent is not known

Yes, however, learning to overcome ones shortcomings is what makes a group stronger. For instance,it is said that tall people make more money. The Asians as a group are hardly tall, yet they have overcome that handicap by accentuating their other strengths. We have a lot of Pakistanis and Indians who own gas stations and 7 -11s around here. They are the main group who are willing to put in the long hours to survive. What do you want to bet that they eventually will be prosperous. I deal with several, and they are nice guys, hard working, honest, and even though America is at war with terrorists from the middle east, these guys are doing a good business. The point is that you are blaming prejudices upon racism alone, when we all have prejudices about many things. That is human nature. Honesty, discipline, hard work can overcome those prejudices.

The school work of the brown eyes began to improve while that of the lighter eyes began to suffer and worsen. The actions of the brown eyes dealing with the blue eyes was disgusting to watch......they were condescending, demeaning and bullying.

Your example is interesting, as it proves that prejudices, not racism per say, is the root of problems. What has a childs eye color have to do with race necessarily. The same goes for short people, and fat people; neither of whom are associated with one race, but who suffer from prejudices. In my business, I am looking for people who are physically capable of doing the job, which means not too fat, and of a minimun stature so as to have the strength to do the job. So, I have my prejudices, however color isn't one of them.

Lots of words that say little......again explain to me how someone can be better educated and get less pay than a white person?

Sure., Senority, experience, property and interest income, inheritance etc . While they aren't there yet' Eventually, the Asians will have all of them, and will out earn the whites on average. Ten yrs from now, we will be yelling at Tench about how they use their leadership positions to discriminate against us whites, when in fact it is from us not teaching our children the basic values of discipline and hard work. We are dumbing down our schools to accommodate the lazy, accepting mediocrity instead of striving for excellence. It will cost us.

Either admit that's its racism, genderism etc, or explain to me how white men are better and therefore, should command higher salaries than their minority/women counterparts

<g> Oh Jezz I am hardly a socialogist, however I will say that in ten yrs, we will be wondering why other groups are discriminating against us whites. It always happens, the ones on the bottom try harder, and eventually surpass you. Instead of worrying about how to dumb down the UM programs to accept minorities, we should be thinking about how to sharpen our intelligence, to compete with the Chineese, Indians etc. They seem to have the will, and where there is a will, there is a way.
