TP, <Affirmative action is an opportunity.>

Affirmative action is a handout. The only "opportunity" here is to take advantage of getting more for less, thereby screwing over those who may be more deserving of the position.

While you're at it, tell me why Asians have to be screwed over by affirmative action. And I won't accept the cop-out "It's an imperfect solution" as an answer, for it assumes I have to live with it.

<The alternative appears to be to do nothing, which is not working, and prolong the situation another couple of decades.>

Either you forgot about the alternatives I have already spelled out (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=18455767), or you think they have already proven to be a failure. It's obvious you have not answered any one of my points directly, and instead continue to stick to your notion that affirmative action is the only alternative we have.

Affirmative action is an opportunity.

At the expense of someone who may have worked hard all his/her life to get the same opportunity. An opportunity which may be given to someone less deserving rather than someone more deserving.

You see this as a GOOD thing?
