We don't know whether the improving fundamentals are the beginning of sustained uptrend or just a blip. We saw these
improving fundamentals in Jan 2002 as a result of post 9-11
stimulus only to drop off again. Maybe the market selloff in front of "improving fundamentals" is telegraphing something. I think the bear market bottom is a few years away and will be accompanied by double digit unemployment rates, real estate bust, a couple of big name banks going under and absolute total disinterest in the stock market.
I woudn't be surprise if GE pulls the plug on CNBC by then.
The OCtober rally might run up to S&P 1000 , NDX 1200 but
this rally should be used to exit longs and get short.

OPWV reports earnings at 5PM tomorrow. OPWV might be active over the next few days. Samsung just reported excellent profits and noted that their new high-tech color cell phones, that use OPWV technology, are selling very well. OPWV's time might be near as wireless data transmission/Internet color-screen cell phones with OPWV technology finally hit the big time. I think 2003 is going to be the year when the wireless data transmission technology reaches critical mass and OPWV really makes a move. Keep OPWV on your watch list....

------------------------

Technology giant Samsung Electronics Co said on Thursday fourth-quarter profits almost quadrupled on strong mobile phone sales and announced bold investment plans in the face of a "very uncertain" outlook for 2003.

Samsung's high-end phones -- sleek colour-screen mobiles with features such as cameras and voice dialling -- have taken the market by storm.

---------------------------

The outlook for mobile phones -- both from Nokia and the wider group -- is likely to be more upbeat than for network infrastructure. New color-screen phones are expected to stimulate consumer demand in 2003, but many operators have signaled that they are in no mood to ramp up spending in 2003 despite two years of investment cutbacks.
