Will this be the future handset of choice for GSM and CDMA carriers as it provides for world-wide roaming...? For the overwhelming majority of GSM carriers? No. "...and future use on GSM networks when they upgrade to GSM1X?.." Perhaps... though with GSM1x, there is less need for multimode handsets... Or conversely, for a carrier with both cdma2000 and GSM networks (like Unicom), multimode ASICs diminish the case for GSM1x. This is a reason why I doubt that Unicom is the mystery GSM carrier trialing GSM1x.
