Peace through strength won the cold war.
It will win this one too.

There will be no war, and Hussein will be disarmed.

Then the idle enemy within will have to turn its wrath on another issue. ATM fees!

Have you NOT noticed even the title for this TREAD? (sic)

not to put too fine a point on it....but the title should actually be "don't resume the war"..

if the war resumes it will be done on the basis of armistice treaty violations...

and i agree with you in that those violations will be a pretext...

however..

the underlying motivation is not oil( that would be a side benefit...and a huge benefit to the iraqi people once saddam is deposed and the iraqis are able to sell their oil freely on the open market)

no...the underlying motivation is to *preclude* saddam from aiding and abetting our avowed enemies....(of which he is one).....he knows he cannot "win" by conventional means against the U.S. military, his best option is to provide his WMDs to the various terrorist organizations which have already infiltrated our country...

after the events of 9/11, i am fine with a preemptive strike...i'm for whatever means possible to destroy the terrorist infrastructure and weaponry...after 10 years of obfuscation, i am convinced the only way we can be certain the weapons are found and destroyed is to go in and do it ourselves, hopefully with allied support, but will go it alone if necessary. our country has *always* reserved th right to act in our national security interest...that will never change, get used to it.

so save your breath....it's not my intention to argue this point with you...you will not be convinced otherwise nor will i.
