I think I'm out of clues. I am just looking through my own settings in 98. I thought there was something about the user level, ie, either user or admin, but I can't find that in 98 and it is probably in 2000, which I also have.

<Go to control panel and double click on network. Under configuration tab, see a window halfway down that says Primary Network Logon. Mine is set to Client for Microsoft Networks. If yours isn't, try switching to that.>

Choose Windows Logon or Microsoft Family Logon
