I was merely putting aside the question of the future and granting the possibility that the future could not be determined because of our inability to take into account all the variables. The past though does not consist of incalculable possibilities but of actual effects (regardless of our ability to exhaustively know them) that each has a cause. If this were not so then how science function? I believe the future is determined, but not impersonally and mechanistically. Therefore there can be purpose and meaning to past present and future.
