I cant believe reasonable people think saddam just up and destroyed this stuff and didnt take the time to even authenticate it for the UN. What a guy.

Really. I've been bemused by various radio interviews in which some reporter asks an intelligence officer some variant on the question, "Do you think that Saddam really has WMDs?" The answer is always some politely expressed version of "Of course he does, what are you, an idiot?" It doesn't matter where the intelligence officer comes from - USA, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, the answer is always the same.

Edit: Only the ignorant are really in doubt, though many who know that Saddam has WMDs seem to be possessed by notions of fair play, that we owe Saddam a fair trial and presumption of innocence. It is from this crowd that we hear "how do you know that Saddam has WMDs?" in the same breath as "if we attack Saddam, then he will use WMDs on us!"

Wonder how many of us here actually heard Mr. Adlai say that....I did....It was truly a wonderful day!!!

Come January 27, it would be a good thing to see Adlai Stevenson back at the UN, shouting at the iraqi ambassador. "Dont wait for the translation Mr.Hussein, just answer the question--Yes or No.
