that's a start.

but i also happen to think that the biggest problem with health insurance cost is the total disconnect from the end receiver to the true cost paid by the provider.

although the outrageous punitive damages for pain and suffering grab the headlines...i believe a much bigger driver of ever increasing premiums has to do with ever increasing utilization.

Techplayer I use to think the same thing until 16 months ago. My mother came down with breast cancer and she had all the test done.(manogram, neddle bio, utrasound and doctors hands) She had a total of 6 doctors that examed her over a 18 month period and not the first one caught it. She even when back to get two of the doctors to look at her again at her own expense. Because all of the doctors where sleeping at the wheel, she had to get her breast wacked off and have six months of chemo. (big lawsuit has been filed 1 year ago)
Make things real sad my father saw all of this and quit seeing a doctor for regular check ups. Now he has come down with colon cancer and it has spread to his liver. (95% he will be dead in 2 years)
Make a long short the two main doctors that are getting sued will not lose anything becauce of their malpractice insurance. Most likely this lawsuit will be dragged on for three more years.
In my view point it's not the money that I want. In fact I would give up everything we own right now: farm and dairy, farm trucking company(everything is paid for) life insurance(8 figure policy on my father) and lawsuit money just to walk away from this right now with my parents health like it was 2 years ago with no regrets about do so in the future.
