on the contrary, imo we will titanic if there is no war by, say, mid-march

I tend to agree with you if there is some definite statement that the US will keep supporting the weapons inspectors. Market will tank once there is a clear signal.
Either way, market drops.

All that weaponry out there in the middle east is costing a lot of money and doing nothing.<ng> Rumsfeld and company are not happy about that. That is why I believe an attack is going to happen soon...Rumsfeld's anger towards France and Germany (so publically) is also a sign of this. Their comments have hurt the US case in a big way.

jmho.

One of those difficulties is the southern Shiites we are calling to come over to our side are the same people that had many thousands killed by Saddam because we, the U.S., betrayed them, and left them unprotected after we sucked them into supporting us the last time.
Bush betrayed major sections of the Iraqi landscape when he pulled out.
The Kurds that we want on our side now also remember we lied to them and fear the same again.
George Bush,Sr. chanted relentlessly to the American public the whole function of the war was to destroy the evil Saddam;
but once those Kuwaiti oil fields had been displaced of the Iraqi army, the war stops.
Bravo to George Bush,Sr. for one of the greatest betrayals in U.S. history. He betrayed the the public by lying continously that we "Must destroy Saddam Hussien, that is the reason for this war" and then " well on second thought let's pull-out" and leave the southern Shiites and Kurds to be massacred and i will say we are doing this to prevent further U.S. casaulties when in fact he was kow-towing to the the Saudiis who wanted Hussein to remain in power and the key prime mission was fulfilled, get back the Kuwait Oil fields..
So we sent 500,000 troops in 1991 and now here we are again for the same purpose "to destroy the evil saddam".
I wanted Saddam dead, and was furious as hell when we pulled-out but i started to add up the reasons for why we pulled-out and realized it was ALL GEORGE BUSH Bullsh-- in the first place.
The facts are this we are back at this BS 12 years later because George Bush, Senior betrayed many 12 years ago.
Americans have a great way of erasing their memory banks.
i don't.
