Perhaps it is more important to tailor the test so it measures ability to survive in the target environment. Absolutely. That is the most important point, and the one that gets missed when we get bogged down in racial classification issues. If a group of individuals misses a question that reveals a lack of mastery of a concept which the target environment rewards or requires, then all individuals in that group need to either master that concept or find a different target environment. Leaving the target environment the same and removing the question so we don't have to face the fact that people are missing it doesn't solve anything for anybody, though it may make people feel better in the short run.
