Some people actually use the 4 wheel drive in a SUV, I was one of them. But since my family is growing I have reverted to a All Wheel drive mini van. Come up north and would see a need in the winter time for a 4/all wheel drive, especially this winter. I'm not saying that most don't use it, but your post generallized all IMO.

if they can come up with a vehicle (suv or otherwise) that gets superb fuel economy that isn't the size or power of a yugo i think people will.... (pay a huge premium)...as it would be cost effective.

i have my doubts detroit will win that race.
