what do you think about the disconnect between gold and gold stocks? gold has pushed to a 6-yr high while the stocks have not been able to take out their highs of last summer. i notice Marc Faber calls this a technical negative for gold equities today in Barron's.

having said that, i think one must give some credit to gold equities for their great run from the fall.

I guess we're not the only ones who are bearish on this stock market. Intel President, Paul Otellini, sold 900,000 shares of his own stock last week, despite the financial media telling all Americans who "can't seem to think for themselves" that NOW is the time to be buying this market! He now owns only 389,000 shares. That's selling a little more than needed for a new car or to make a few payments. He KNOWS the oversupply and lessened demand and debt crisis and margin slippage, and and and . . . .

I remain,

SOROS

Just speculating here, but I suspect a major reason for the stock market's problems is the perception by the "smart money" that Greenspan will have to hike rates soon if the buck keeps plunging.
