Ted, <How does one follow the other? If you want better gov't, you have to demand it.>

Of course I'm demanding it. Perhaps when Washington gets off its collective duff and starts streamlining federal government, then I'll trust Uncle Sam to handle my hard-earned tax dollars. Right now, I don't see it. CIA, FBI, INS, Social Security, etc. are all nightmares of government bureaucracy.

So long as you want multiple wars and OBL/al Qaeda unearthed and neutralized, how can you expect to streamline the gov't. Defense alone is gobbling up 16% of the budget and its going up.

<Giving a tax break to the rich only benefits the rich.>

There isn't much room left to cut taxes for the poor. Any more and the government will be handing out welfare checks. Of course, the Democrats don't want to say that, for they get more traction by opposing "tax breaks for the wealthy" instead of "handouts for the poor."

Why are you so concerned with the rich getting richer? Even if you are upper middle class, its not you that will benefit most from these ridiculous tax cuts. Bush is acting like a greedy man under the gun who is not sure how long he has and is doing as much stuff to help his friends as time will permit. I guarantee you that will lead to his losing the next election.

"Tax breaks for the wealthy" is nothing more than a political statement aimed at fostering jealousy. If you really want to make a statement, put dishonest rich guys like Bernie Ebbers and Jeff Skilling in jail.

Why do I have that power and you don't?
