Murder implies intent. They killed the four Canadians. They didn't murder them. In NZ and some other countries, there are defamation laws to protect people against libel and slander. Our prime minister, Helen Clark, was sued for calling somebody a murderer. When he objected [via the media] she corrected herself and said that if he preferred, she would call him a manslaughterer. Too late, she was prosecuted and found guilty of defamation. He had been convicted of manslaughter because he carelessly or somehow or other [I forget the details] was involved in the poisoning death of somebody at his house. He didn't intend the death as far as I know. So, those pilots could sue you for libel [in some countries anyway and these days, reputations are in cyberspace, so defamation is becoming problematic across judicial borders]. Mqurice PS: Google's great: <A West Auckland actor is suing the Prime Minister for defamation. John Yelash has filed papers in the High Court at Auckland seeking $250,000 in damages after Prime Minister Helen Clark referred to him as a murderer. The alleged slander happened last August during the controversy surrounding former Maori Affairs Minister Dover Samuels. Mr Yelash says he was approached by MP Chris Carter to obtain information about Mr Samuels. Confusion later arose about who had phoned whom first, with Miss Clark saying she preferred to take Mr Carter's word, over that of a 'murderer'. When Mr Yelash pointed out that he had been convicted of manslaughter in 1979, Miss Clark said if he preferred that she call him a 'manslaughterer', then she would. > nz.com Background and detail here: nznews.net.nz I'm omniscient, thanks to Google.
