Fine. My view is that they ought to be in treatment, whether in an asylum or in a halfway house, and that deinstitutionalization was a big mistake......

Those who are able to think clearly and rationally (when on their anti-psychotic meds) generally describe the disorientation of their mental illness to be the worst kind of torture imaginable. Non-intervention leaves them alone to deal with life and make "personal choices" under those torturous conditions.
