“Our people remain vulnerable, nearly as vulnerable as we were before 8:56 a.m. on September 11,” Clinton said at a homeland security conference in Manhattan.

Perhaps, but who could have done more? Her? Her husband? John Kerry?

You have to keep in mind this criticism is from the wife of a man who

- had a clear opportunity to have taken Bin Laden into custody and refused to do it, apparently because of the political entailments associated with such action;

- foolishly allowed Saddam Hussein to de facto eject UN weapons inspectors;

- entered into a weak agreement with NK under which we were blackmailed by NK, only to find that NK continued its nuclear development program and now has developed nukes, the Jeanie is now out of the bottle.

Hillary is laying on the political rhetoric. While I believe it is true we have significant vulnerabilities, it is naive to think that we could have conceivably eliminated them in the period since 9/11.

The poll that matters is when Americans are asked:

"Who do you trust to protect you from terrorism, Bush or the Democrats?".

The American people will never, EVER answer this question "the Democrats". Ever.
