I've hesitated to mention this before now, because it's rather personal. But... You and my dad are the same age. With that in mind, I've read your posts with a certain indescribable poignance over this past month. My dad went into the hospital the night before Christmas Eve with viral encephalitis. I spent a lot of time in his hospital room over the holidays wondering if he would ever be the same again. And I would come home, log on, and scanning through SI and some of my other favorite on-line haunts, read your posts, specifically, because of the age you share with him, and I would fear, in my heart, that my father would never be as clear again as you are, today, at this age--which suddenly seemed to have come all too quickly and which suddenly seemed to be still...too young...for anything like this to happen to him. I couldn't read one of your posts without being reminded of the difference. He is much better now, btw. But it was a scary time.
