Oil flows as Venezuelan strike wanes

Crude oil output reached 966,000 barrels a day Monday, according to striking executives at the state oil monopoly, Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., or PDVSA. Mr. Chavez claimed Sunday that daily production had surpassed one million barrels.

Steve:

Re: "It will be seen as a liberation by the locals rather than an occupation. This is not Afghanistan where there are hordes of fundamentalists and people have lived in caves and fought all comers. Iraqis have lived in fear of the leadership and have been under this "occupation" for decades.

US has the opportunity to come out of this smelling of roses so long as they don't unnecessarily kill loads of civilians and conscripts that wouldn't put up a fight anyway. Hopefully the Saddam-hating boys and men of the Republican Guard won't get carpet bombed this time.

Must be that new smart bomb I've been hearing so much about. Only hits guys wearing black hats. Newly developed sensor arrays apparently identify guys with white hats, women and children. and cause the fuse to switch to safe mode.

Back home we apply liberal amounts of fresh horse manure to rose bushes in the belief that it does them a great deal of good and makes them healthy so they give off good blooms. My mother swears by it. Therefore the term "Smelling like roses" probably means something different to me than it does to you but you might also understand if I say based on my experience I agree with you.
