I thought about the mealy-mouthed comment. I meant it to disparge that policies of 'narrow self interest' that I think have prevailed since WWII across all idealogical lines.

We have used the ME like a giant gas station, oblivious to the fact that people live there. We dispised dictators, unless they were our dictators. So, 60 years later, we have a mess. Time to clean up.
