Paul,
I made the case to scott that the real issue in the Gulf War was one nation state swallowing up another and a UN member to boot. This could not be allowed to stand even if there was no oil in kuwait. The issue that Butler brings up--see scotts post is a large issue also that needs to be addressed. The europeans knowing the drop dead date for US attack and knowing the Butler principle involved may actually be running cover for us so that when we go, we will have another 15-0 vote or one with an abstention or two. I dont think Chirac will screw us in the end. Also this gives anti-hussein folks in iraq time for a coup or the hussein very extended family time to flee. Mike
