One of my favorite stories along these lines. Two mad bombers enter a small elementary school in Cokeville, Wyoming in the mid-'80's and gather up everyone they can in one room.

The children begin to see visions of recently deceased relatives, distantly deceased relatives (unknown to them), and angels and these beings began to calm the children and to tell each child where to stand. The bombers drew a circle around the center of the room, stood in it and after given time detonated the bomb. Although the bombers are killed instantly, not one child or teacher was killed in the blast. Fire department personnel are perplexed by the lack of casualties given the extreme nature of the explosion.

Afterwards the angel stories started circulating. One child was the son of a police officer who castigated his kid for parroting the tripe of the other kids. Later, the boy saw a photo at his grandmother's place and shouted, "That's the man who spoke to me the day of the bombing!" It was his great grandfather whom he had never seen a picture of before.
