Actually more Germans than English. 25% Germans now vs. 13% English, not sure what the makeup was during WWI and WWII. And the Germans were, in general, opposed to attacking Germany, as is understandable.

21% Welsh, Scottish and Irish so maybe you meant British Isles?

But you already know how the Irish feel about the English.

America is a place where folks mind their own business. 9-11 made a quantum change in what Americans know is our business now. 9-11 caused a quantum change in awareness

The face of terrorism is now global and Americans are threatened.

That is the simple difference. It's a physical difference, not emotional or political.

Who is targeted and when has physical emotional and political considerations.
