Was the end of WW2 the rationale for thousands of new soldiers for hitler, mussolini or tojo? War against Germany was a war against a country. You forget the asymmetric nature of the war on terror. al Qaeda is not affiliated with any nation. All it takes is the 0.1% fringe elements of Islam to get further agitated. They can hide in any country on the world. No clinging to "drying the swamp" mentality will change that. Taken to the extreme the USA would have to install a military dictatorship all over the world to control terrorist movement.
