American spirit. Re..ICBM's? North Korea has none.

Depends how you define that. The missile N K tested over Japan several yrs ago is capable of hitting the northwest US. With a little luck, one could hit Ted's house.

ICBM's? North Korea has none.

They could hit Hawaii, maybe even a tiny bit of the West coast. They are working on longer range missiles and in a decade or so should be able to hit anywhere in US.

Russia is an ally now, more or less.

Not currently an enemy but not really an ally.

China manufactures half our goods and I seriously doubt
they'd want war.

China doesn't want war now, or at least I don't think they do but one could happen, perhaps over Taiwan or Korea. You have to be ready for what your potential enemies can do not only what you think they want to do.

SDI is not ready for action yet.

That is why I want to get it ready.

And consider the budget cuts we're going to need to balance
the budget, SDI is a boondoggle.

We don't need budget cuts just restraint on new spending. SDI will be new spending but the new dollars going to it will be a lot less then the normal growth in social programs over the same period.
